Corporate Social Responsibility
In addition to the clinical work, Dr. Sajeela has started de-addiction programs for the society at large. She organizes “Structured Tobacco Cessation Workshops” in various organizations; wherein employees are treated for tobacco dependence in a group setting. The essence is to make the “Organizations Tobacco-Free”, in their true sense.
For example, in 2016, she started the program, “Tobacco Free Delhi – A CSR initiative” by BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) – A Reliance Power Group. Her “Tobacco Free Delhi - Cigarette-Tobacco Choro Abhiyaan”, got an overwhelming response. In the first four-month phase of “Cigarette-Tobacco Choro Abhiyaan” in 2016 itself, she helped hundreds of smokers/tobacco addicts who did quit their addictions completely after her treatment.
Following the immense success of these initiatives, Dr. Sajeela conducted several more de-addiction programs in years 2017, 2018 and 2019. Such is her love for the community and the nation at large that CSR has become her passion. According to Dr. Sajeela, “Treating the community where India resides in its true sense; where addictions are rampant, but where people are not even aware of the treatment; and cannot afford even basic amenities, is indeed very satisfying. It’s very close to my dream of a Tobacco Free India”.
